This week marks the final ACT Course of our 2018-19 year, with our last course at the Rochester Academy of Medicine this Thursday and Friday. We have had a truly wonderful time this year working with our wonderful colleagues from Palliative Care, Heme/Onc, Liver Transplant, Renal Transplant, Advanced Heart Failure, and Emergency Medicine!
In addition to this wide-ranging group of specialties, we have maintained the interdisciplinary nature of our course that makes it so powerful, with participants joining us including APPs, RNs, Social Workers, Chaplains, and physicians (both attendings and fellows)!
And so…we wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of our participants! Your willingness to jump in and be vulnerable with colleagues and friends is always inspiring! Our hope is that each of you found something in the ACT Course to take forward in caring for patients!
We also want to say thank you to those who have stayed involved with the ACT Program via Encore, including attending R&R Rounds, engaging in ACT In The Moment, checking out Tips of the Week and…of course…stopping us in the hall to relate inspiring stories of ACT skills in the real world! Please also join us for our next R&R Rounds on August 29, noon-1pm in the 2nd floor Wilmot Cancer Center conference room (2.0727)!
As this (slightly extended) academic year comes to a close, we are already looking forward to working with our hospital-based colleagues in 2019-20. We will be inviting Hospitalist physicians, APPs, and Strong Hospital-based inpatient RNs, SWers, Chaplains, Care Coordinators. We look forward to working with this dedicated and diverse group. You do amazing work caring for the majority of adults admitted to Strong Hospital and we hope each of you finds the ACT Program to help in this important work!
We are also excited to announce that for the first time we will be reserving two courses specifically for fellows. This year we will welcome fellows from Palliative Care, GI, Advanced Heart Failure, and Heme/Onc!
