This is an interesting thought piece exploring the use of humor in the clinical context. The authors define 8 categories of humor with recommendations for/against as a function both of the category and the source of the humor (patient/family vs clinician).

As someone who, admittedly, has a tendency for my (-ahem-) hilarity to “go off” before the higher regions of my mind have a chance to intervene, I think their advice is generally good!
